Essential Position Requirements
As an Engineer for Cypher, you must be an adaptable, self-motivated, high-energy person with a strong work ethic and a coachable attitude. You must be a highly personable individual that has strong communication skills, charisma, and the ability to take-on special projects upon request. The ideal candidate will be able to work both independently as well as in a team setting, while remaining accountable to company directives and strategic initiatives.
Preference will be given to candidates with the following qualifications:
- Must have a technical background such as P.Eng, CET, P.Geo., or equivalent experience
- Experience in soil testing (classification, Sieve, Hydrometer, Atterberg, Proctor, CBR)
- Experience working in a fast paced production and/or product development environment preferable in a research and development (R&D) laboratory setting.
- Exceptional communication skills.
- Educational skills relating to building roads and civil engineering practices.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook).
- Demonstrated ability to work as an effective team member with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrated willingness to take initiative and desire to learn and seek new ideas.
- Demonstrated ability to complete all tasks with keen attention to detail.
- If required, able to travel both domestically and internationally.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Receive, document, test, and report on soil analysis for client projects
- Geotechnical tests – Sieve, Hydrometer, Atterberg, Proctor, CBR
- Technical Documentation, Analysis, and presentation
- Receive, translate, analyze, and report on customer soils lab results from outside Canada
- Assess soils for treatability and provide feedback to client and Cypher sales representatives
- Provide feedback, training and support of customer facing co-workers
- Technical training and support regarding geotechnical, application, new application opportunities, methods
- Trouble shoot client and internal issues and concerns
- Coordinate and maintain relationships with post-secondary and research partners
- Represent the company as requested at public events such as trade shows
- Develop and manage research projects from inception to completion including documentation, resource allocation, funding, support and training
- Provide support and guidance to employees and manage technical support positions including civil engineering co-op and full time employees
- Provide technical support and recommendations regarding Information Technology
- Support / lead corporate initiatives including large scale production builds, corporate standards updates (ISO), relocations, etc.
- When required, develop and maintain supplier relationships – testing, technical, IT, production
- Investigate new technologies and solutions to support the company mandate
- Attend road builds (locally and globally)
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
