Expanding Impact with Green Roads™ in Mali with B2Gold

Building Upon Established Success

In 2022, Cypher Environmental partnered with B2Gold to address critical road dust issues in Mali through Cypher Green Roads™. Leveraging our dust control product, DUST/BLOKR®, we significantly enhanced the health, safety, and overall quality of life for residents in the village of New Fadougou.

Now, as our collaboration with B2Gold’s Fekola Mine continues to grow, so does the scale of our impact, and we’re only just getting started. What began as a focused effort in New Fadougou has evolved into a broader regional initiative, with our road treatment efforts now reaching additional villages. This expansion reflects not just progress, but the powerful potential of what’s ahead as we continue to scale our work and deepen our contribution to community well-being across the region.

Understanding Cypher Green Roads™

Cypher Green Roads™ is rooted in our commitment to Environmental Social Governance (ESG) and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). The initiative aims to give back by enhancing road infrastructure in the communities next to where our products are used worldwide.

As part of this program, Cypher donates up to 5% of a project’s value (for any order over $250K USD) in the form of product to benefit a nearby local community.

 

Extended Reach: Beyond New Fadougou

 

In 2023, thanks to our growing relationship with B2Gold, we extended our Green Roads™ footprint to two more communities in Mali, a direct result of donations facilitated by the initiative:

• New Fadougou: Road treatment expanded from 1 km to 5 km.
• Medinandi: Road treatment doubled from 1 km to 2
• Titiba: Introduction of new road treatment spanning 1

Local residents and workers continue to report tangible improvements in air quality and road conditions, reinforcing the program’s real-world benefits.

 

Holistic Community Development Initiatives

B2Gold’s commitment extends far beyond dust control, encompassing a wide range of community-focused efforts:

• GIE SANYA Youth Clean-Up Project: Empowering local youth through waste management training and provision of essential cleaning equipment.
• Cultural and Social Support: Regular contributions to families in support of cultural events such as Ramadan and Tabaski festivities.
• Sustainable Economic Initiatives: Development of agriculture through irrigation projects, gardening programs, poultry farming, and essential climate change
• Community Engagement Hub: Establishment of a dedicated community outreach centre to enhance dialogue and cooperation between Fekola mine operations and local populations.

 

Synergistic Solutions:

Dust Control and Renewable Energy

 

One of the most innovative aspects of this initiative is that the application of DUST/BLOKR® is directly across from B2Gold’s solar installations. This dual-benefit approach not only enhances road safety but also reduces dust accumulation on solar panels, boosting both energy efficiency and equipment lifespan. Importantly, DUST/BLOKR® is non-toxic and non-corrosive, ensuring zero harm to the panels.

 

 

Looking Ahead: Planned Initiatives for 2025

Preparations are already underway for 2025, with planned dust control treatments for B2Gold’s Menankoto South Gold Project. We look forward to sharing updates as these projects unfold and deliver a further impact across the region.
