Meet Teaghan Wellman, Vice President of Research and Development

Our Vice President of Research and Development, Teaghan Wellman, is a remarkable example of a woman in science.  Teaghan started at Cypher Environmental as a research specialist after earning her Bachelor of Science, post-baccalaureate in QA/QC, and Masters in Science. She has steadily grown in her career with Cypher.  After a few years, she became the Director of Research and Development and today holds the role of Vice President of Research and Development.

As Vice President, Wellman is deeply involved in all aspects of the organization, from quality control to product development. She spends significant time in the lab researching innovative ways to improve product lines and develop new technologies aimed at mitigating environmental contamination. “In my role, I focus on driving advancements in sustainable technology and exploring ways to create a lasting positive impact on the environment,” says Wellman.

Her journey highlights the importance as a woman in science, especially in leadership roles within tech-driven industries. Teaghan’s contributions are helping shape the vision of Cypher Environmental, expanding its global reach, and fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation. Her dedication to sustainable practices and environmental responsibility makes her a strong advocate for both science and social change.

The best part of working at Cypher, according to Wellman, is the company’s mission-driven culture. “Cypher’s mission to influence environmental practices globally aligns with my personal drive to create lasting change,” she says. The unique and diverse culture at Cypher Environmental is based on shared goals, fostering a close-knit team dedicated to advancing sustainable solutions worldwide.

“Working in a company with such a broad and impactful vision encourages creativity and growth. It fuels the innovation required to lead change in the environmental space,” she adds.

Cypher‘s culture is a unique and diverse network of global partnerships. They are a close group who share common visions, goals, and missions that seek to create influence in shifting the worlds outlook on sustainable and environmental practices. It’s that mission that brings them together, regardless of their geographical location.

“Entering into a place of work that has such vast vision allows for expansive growth, a creative mindset, and propels the innovation required to influence change.”

Outside of work, you might find Teaghan painting, participating in all types of physical activity, or working on her Doctorate of Business Administration. Her vision for change is what motivates her to stay so busy.

“It’s exciting to be a part of such an instrumental change initiative that creates lasting impressions on the ways we view and treat our environment, says Wellman.” To be a small part of such a movement is inspiring and motivates me to remain engaged and innovative.”

One of the biggest challenges Teaghan faces in her role is shifting mindsets—especially when it comes to convincing others of the importance of tackling environmental issues. Her dedication to this cause and her passion for science push her to continue seeking solutions and advancing the company’s mission.

Teaghan’s advice for other women in science is to remain humble and to always listen. “Humility paired with active listening is key to success,” she advises. “It allows us to learn, grow, and work together toward shared goals, all while staying grounded and focused on creating positive change.”

As a woman in science herself, Teaghan Wellman is a strong advocate for women to enter into STEM fields.  Her leadership at Cypher Environmental serves as an inspiring example of how one person’s vision can drive innovation and change on a global scale.
