March 24, 2021 – Ottawa, Ontario – Global Affairs Canada
Today, the Honourable Mary Ng, Minister of Small Business, Export Promotion and International Trade, hosted the initial meeting of the Global Clean Technology Advisory Group. The advisory group’s leadership includes Todd Burns, President of Cypher Environmental; Sheldon Levy, President of Innovation Outcomes and former president of Ryerson University; and Jennifer Wagner, President of CarbonCure Technologies. Together, they will advise cleantech entrepreneurs on key supports for their business.
As Canada continues its recovery from the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, it is crucial that Canada’s clean technology businesses have access to support that will lead them grow here in Canada and abroad.
The group discussed the challenges and opportunities for Canadian and international cleantech industries and, in response, Canada’s support to enable cleantech businesses to start up, scale up and access new markets.
Canada is a world leader in the cleantech sector, with at least 11 Canadian companies represented in the Global Cleantech 100 list over the last four years. This innovative sector provides good, well-paying jobs for Canadians and is a key to growing and strengthening Canada’s economy as we build back better.
The Global Clean Technology Advisory Group will assess opportunities for the growth of Canadian cleantech businesses and will provide advice and recommendations to the Government of Canada on how to leverage them.
“The Global Clean Technology Advisory Group will bring an outcomes-oriented approach as we seek to continue to help grow Canadian cleantech champions as they scale up and access international markets. Canada’s innovative, sustainable cleantech solutions are key to our shared recovery and our future prosperity.”
– Mary Ng, Minister of Small Business, Export Promotion and International Trade
